The phytonutrients and antioxidants in apples may help reduce the risk of developing cancer, hypertension, diabetes, and heart disease. (1)

Cinnamon has many health benefits, including lowering cholesterol, fighting diabetes, and helps relieve arthritis pain. (2)

Water also has many amazing health benefits as well, including raising your metabolism and helping with weight loss.

Ingredients in Apple Cinnamon Detox Water

Adding apple in water can be sweet, or sour depending on the apples you choose.

I recommend a sweet apple to maximize flavor, here are some of the sweetest apples.

How to Make Detox Cinnamon Water with Apples

This easy to make cinnamon apple water can be whipped up quickly and easily.

How to Make Apple Detox Water with Cinnamon:

  1. To a carafe or pitcher, add all the apple.
  2. Use a muddler (or potato masher) to gently mash the apples to release their flavors.
  3. Add the cinnamon stick and the water. Mix together, and let marinate for 2 hours in the fridge before serving.

Special Tips on Making Fruit Infused Water Recipes:

  • Use a Fruit Infused Water Pitcher to make these drinks! The canister in the center of the pitcher will hold the fruit and herbs submerged. This will intensify the flavor!
  • If you don’t have a fruit infused pitcher, add 3 cups of ice to the top of the water. Do not mix, but instead add to the fridge. As the ice slowly melts it will keep the fruit submerged longer. This will intensify the flavor!
  • You can double the ingredients to make a stronger flavored water.

You don’t eat the cinnamon stick… it just infuses the drink with flavor.

  6. How much are you suppose to drink? The article leaves the impression that you’re suppose to drink the whole pitcher within 24 hours. Also I added lemon to kinda draw out the flavors.

  7. Looking forward to trying this, wanted to know though how much you drank a day and did you start with fresh apple and cinnamon every five days?

  8. Why don’t you just EAT the dang apple?! You’re body would get way more benefit from EATING it rather than just drinking water with apple “flavor”.

  9. When trying this water as a method of losing weight are you suppose to not eat and only drink? Or are you allowed to drink while eating healthy?

  10. I don’t believe the 0 calories is true. A bag of raw cinnamon sticks is 74 calories a serving and the package I got is 3 servings.

  11. Medi-Fast says 100 oz per day…I have also been told by Weight Watchers to drink your weight divided by 2…that’s even more if you are fluffy!!

  12. Does it have to be kept in the fridge all the time? Is it ok to keep it out in a glass 15 min before you plan to drink so that it is not that cold?

  13. So how often do u drink this water ? U drink 1 glass every morning and night or only once a morning ?

  14. There will be, just not yet. Hopefully before the holidays we will have print copies to sell.

You can turn your computer, tablet or phone into a Kindle with a free application on Amazon. It’s on the same page as my book, below the buy it now button.

    HAPPY COOKING!
    Audrey

  15. I am so happy I found your site and will be here very often. I was wondering if there is another way to get your book besides the Kindle version?

  16. I made my water yesterday morning using one whole cut up Fuji apple and 3 cinnamon sticks ( I really love cinnamon). I left the water in the fridge until this morning and was so eager to try it. But I didn’t taste any cinnamon. All it tasted like was an extremely watered down apple. Did I do something wrong? Or does anyone have any tips on how I can boost the flavor?

  17. I have some Cinnamon Stick Tea Bags laying around.. Do you think that these would be good and have some of the same effects? Or do I really need to spend a lot (cinnamon is really expensive around here) on the real thing?

  18. It won’t dissolve and will just leave floaties. Read the rest of the comments, some people have founds ways to make ground work.

    HAPPY COOKING!

  19. I am a new diabetic just learning how to eat healty I was wondering if this is bad for diabetic because of the cinnamon I’m not sure like I said I’m new to being diabetic and still don’t know how to do all this calorie counting or anything I truthfully haven’t been hungry at all I have to force myself to eat since being diagnosed and I only get thirsty when my sugar level is real hi now that I’m on meds I have been almost under control but I don’t think I can drink that much water because I’m not thirsty I barely can drink 1 glass of anything a day. I have been losing weight since I have been diagnosed but would like to lose a lot more so maybe I can keep this diabeties under control I also have RA (rheumatoid arthritis) which prevents me from moving around a lot so I can’t do much exercise but I’m hoping to be able to use this drink and quit drinking diet dr pepper but at least I only drink about a can a day. Please let me know if this drink will be ok for me to drink. Thanks.

  20. I’ve added watermelon. Cantaloupe, honeydew, and raspberries. The melons tend to breakdown and you get floaties, but it still tastes great.

  21. I went to the store to get my Cinnamon sticks and Figi Apples…. Made it in a cute glass pitcher, left it in the refrig. over nite. I just had my first 16oz and loved it! All :)’s over here. Thank you soo much. I will be drinking this daily….

  22. I didn’t have a cinnamon stick so I put a tablespoon of ground cinnamon in a coffee filter and tied it off! Works like a tea bag 🙂

  23. So I actually bought this water bottle that has a little compartment in which you put your fruits or cinnamon in it! I now use it all the time! I love it and I love the way this water mixture works!

  24. I made a 2-Liter pitcher of the Apple Cinnamon Water this morning. Around noon I began drinking it (assuming that enough time had passed) and I loved it! My husband came home from work and also really enjoyed it. Between the two of us, we went through two 2-Liter pitchers today. I cannot wait to have it again tomorrow and to hopefully try some other water drink recipes you have available.

    Thank you!

  25. Apples will turn brown the second that you cut them, it’s just oxidation (air hitting them) they will last 12-24 hours and I really recommend using a cinnamon stick, the ground cinnamon is still bark… not powder so it will not dissolve.
    HAPPY COOKING!

  26. I noticed that someone used ground cinnamon but wondered how it was used? Also I noticed the apples are starting to turn but it’s not time to change them yet? Anyone else have this happen?

  27. I never thought to put ice on top of the fruit before adding the water. I’ll do that next time. I recently made cucumber-apple-cinnamon water & it was delish! I was even surprised that my 6yr old really like it, too. Last night, I made orange-lemon-key lime-cinnamon-mint water. I’ll find out what it’s like when I get home. Thanks for the ingenious ice tip!

  28. Do I have to add the ice? I just decided to try to make it and just realized that I forgot to add ice. Should it still be ok if I don’t?

  29. Ive been doing this recipe of Apples and cinnamon in water for 3 days now and at first I didnt like the taste going down but the after taste was like apple pie now ive been drinking all day and its better… also I think the longer you let them sit and soak in water the more potent your drink will be …mine is at least. But anyways I love this in the 3 days ive been drinking it Ive lost 2lbs and I do believe it was because of this… my metabolism has a very hard time burning off food because I have an underactive thyroid so its slow to begin with but this boost has got me out of a weight plateau!!

  30. Thank you so much for the quick response! I’m going to like your facebook page now! I would really like to keep in touch with you throughout my journey, I just really need the motivation and who’s a better motivator than someone with the experience! And ok, Im going to eat =/ I just dont want to gain anymore weight. I will ask the rest of my questions on facebook, like how often should I weigh myself? Because right now I am weighing myself everyday.

  31. Ashley,

YOU HAVE TO EAT!! Food is fuel, would you run your car on empty?!?

I always give people the same 4 goals to work on:

    1. Drink a gallon of water a day.
    2. Remove all processed foods and fake sugars from your diet.
    3. Move your body more.
    4. Count your calories. Take your goal weight and add a zero to the end, that is how many calories you should have each day.

Doing this you can lose on average 5 lbs a week, and up to 100 lbs by June, but most likely a goal of 75 by June is more achievable and only an average of 3 lbs a week.

It’s very difficult to comment here (a glitch we are trying to correct) but when I saw your message I was so concerned I had to find a way to comment right away. YOU HAVE TO EAT! Food is GOOD, as long as you have all natural food.

I recommend you like my Facebook page, there is a forum there and I answer questions very fast over there plus there is a weekly competition and last week 2 people lost OVER 10 lbs!

    HAPPY COOKING!

  32. Hello!
I FINALLY found some cinnamon sticks at my local dutch market and started drinking this water on Saturday! I have been soo eager to start this journey. I have been so interested in your story and motivated to lose this weight. I am currently 5’11 263 lbs. I would LOVE to lose 100lbs by June but I kno thats not possible lol so my goal is atleast 60lbs by June. Your story is so inspiring to me =) I’ve been drinking nothing but this cinnamon apple water since Saturday along with smoothies. I’m honestly scared to eat food because I feel like anything I eat will put weight on me =( I have been eating like 1 small meal a day though. I dont work out because getting to the gym is an issue. Today I’m going to start drinking a smoothie for breakfast lunch and dinner while drinking atleast 96oz of this water a day. Do you think I’m going about this wrong? I just really need to lose this weight and FAST!

  33. I tried making this today and I left it for about an hour. When I went to test some out I couldn’t taste anything! :O not sure if I just didn’t leave it long enough or what, I’m going to try ground cinnamon hopefully one of them works!

  34. I love this drink it was very easy to make . As for the cinnamon sticks if u go to your Walmart or local grocery under the Spanish section they have a spices area they have the sticks there . And check big lots they carry a lot gourmet items . I got a bag of 16 oz
For a dollar .. U will get a great deal on a Spanish aile in your local Walmart or grocery store . And if Ur lucky a Spanish store . But I love the drink . Thank u Rosa

  35. Someone may have asked this already but I didn’t see it scrolling through – I love the apple-cinnamon water but feel like I’m wasting the apples when I throw them out after a few days… any ideas what the apples could be used for after a few days in the water? Thanks!

  36. Thank you for a great idea! I love iced tea… Do you have any recipes that can help with energy ( other than the usual lemon wedges), like i always have? At times, i want something a litl sweet n tart in my water or tea… Any suggestions?

  37. This is NOT A DETOX!!!! This is an alternative to sodas!!

  39. So, how exactly am i supposed to drink this and lose weight? Like what do i do, just drink it and the weight will come off, do i have to exersize, or what? (Sorry for asking, im a teenager and im confused..)

  40. Hi, I’ve tried a few detox recipes. I get burned out on the water cleanse (no flavor :P) I was wondering if this is actually a detox. And if I dont have cinnamon sticks, can I use cinnamon powder?

  41. How long do you think this can last in the fridge. I became sick and was drinking ginger ale instead of the water and it sat in the fridge for almost a week. You think its still good?

  42. hello– I made this yesterday– and i love the hint of flavor it adds to my water! I was wondering if it’s suppose to have a lot of flavor. For me, there’s just a hint… And does the cinnamon stick dissolve completely? Mine just unraveled a little– but it doesn’t seem to dissolve (I do taste cinnamon in the water though). thanks so much!

  43. I am a fairly new mother & ive tried everything to get rid of this baby weight…so i looked some stuff up & this looks super yummy & cheap! My diet is now for breakfast i have a slimfast & water, lunch is slimfast, fruits & water & dinner is a balanced meal…sounds boring i know but since i found this recipe im going to try it tonight! It will spice things up i hope & it sounds like it will taste good! Also on another note…anyone who is looking for cheap cinnamon sticks, go to the mexican aisle in your grocery store or market or a mexican store near you & they sell everything much cheaper! I found a bag for $.88!

  44. I just made this last night, it is absolutely wonderful. The flavors are subtle and they don’t take over your tastebuds when you’re drinking. I paired this with a nice lunch of Spaghetti Squash Spaghetti and I’m loving the energy and the way I am feeling. I was diagnosed with hypothyroid in 6th grade, roughly 8 years later I’m still feeling the effects even though I am on medication for it. This is a nice way to boost my energy in a way that won’t hurt my body so that I can get out and be active in my day. Loved the recipes for all of your waters and I’m looking into some of your other recipes. (My sister isn’t the biggest fan of cinnamon but she was practically drooling at the mention of the other ones. =] ) Thank you so much for posting these!

  45. This is a great idea and I now make it in a single coffee cup. I heat the water in the microwave for 1 minute & 14 seconds, to get it really hot. Add 1/4 tsp cinnamon to the hot water & stir, this dissolves the cinnamon. I add just a little honey, then dice 1/4 of an apple, with skin on, add to water. I then let it cool and place it in the fridge till I am ready to drink. It is quite tasty. Gives me energy, but not TONS:)

  46. Its the apple in general. I will swear by this. Whether you eat one straight or use it in water, its a must for weight loss and staying stable. My Dr kept telling me and I didnt believe him until I started incorporating it in my diet.

  47. Oh! Did you come up with a mint one yet? I’m 3 months preggo and SICK, lol. It’s normal for me (baby #5) but I’m so, so tired of it. I usually only drink water but since getting pregnant, I’m having a harder and harder time keeping hydrated. I would love to try your mint water! I can’t wait to try this apple cinnamon water. It just so happens that I have two large boxes of apples sitting in my kitchen right now. Now I just need to see if I have any cinnamon sticks left… Although I’m thinking a cinnamon “tea bag” with ground cinnamon would work too. Thanks for sharing!

  48. I drink a lot of soda, I have tried diet sodas, flavored waters from the grocery store. I don’t like the after taste. I am going to try your apple cinnamon water. I hope I like your recipe and stop drinking so many sodas. Thank you for sharing.

  49. I’m trying this for the first time, have really been neglecting my water intake lately and have been noticing the dehydration symptoms. Drinking plain water was just a bore, but I am already on my second glass of this and looking forward to trying more recipes.

  50. YEAH!! THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR SHARING!

I am so glad you like it! Someone just commented that she was going to try it hot like tea for the cold winter days, you might want to try that too.

I get compliments that Im looking great, i feel great too, and i have the energy as well to juggle both my sons who are 2 and a half years old and 2 and a half months old.. 😀 i love it that its my new drink… alot better on the following morning!

  53. Have you tried this with hot water for winter? I am going to try it tomorrow, hot water, apples and cinnamon…sounds like a wonderful substitute for the sugary coffee drinks I am trying to stop drinking!

  54. Ohhh I have a question!!! May I eat the fruit while drink the water?? I think I can’t resist the temptation!! 😛

  55. Jajajaja you got me whit your magic words: Skinny stay at home mom!!! I’m looking for recipes like this because since I’m a stay at home mom I gained around 20 lbs 🙁 so thanks for the tips!!!

  57. I found your recipe on pinterest and im curious on how this will taste. Im not a fan of lemon in water since i always feel like i have a dry mouth after but i really really want to cut soft drinks from my life and really want to loose weight. I also cannot drink fake flavor waters since i always end up with a migraine.
Im hoping i have found a little light in my dark life.
After working overnights at a desk job for 3 years i put over a 100lbs on. Then i lost that job due to kidney stones, migraines, and back and nerve pain (too many er trips from work) and ive been unemployed (trying everyday to find something i can do with health issues) for 2 years. Doesn’t help matters that i wound up getting depressed and stressed out since i lost my medical insurance, i have so much pain to deal with. Im tired of being 250+ and not able to really work out without gaining more pain. I feel like your blog might be able to help me crawl out of this hole and get back to be like i used to be. Sorry for the book but i just feel like a rock might be lifted off of my shoulders if i start cooking with your recipes. It might be hard since im from a farm family and they dont know how to cook light. But im hoping to have a friend in weight loss to lean on.

Ill be trying this water tomorrow once i get some apples.

    Thanks 🙂

  58. I just found this late last night. As I’m currently at my cottage, I don’t have any cinnamon sticks here, but I do have regular ground cinnamon. I crafted a teabag out of some sterile wound gauze dressing & thread and put the cinnamon in it. Because I was so anxious to try this, I did it at 2:00 in the morning and put it in the fridge for today. The only apples I had were Delicious apples, so I used them too. Gotta say, it’s WONDERFUL! Not over-powering at all, just extremely yummy and refreshing. Now, you must understand, I LOVE cinnamon, so I used lots! It’s great!

  60. I have lost 75 pounds in the last 2 years and can’t wait to try this tomorrow. It seems like I have hit a plateau and the scale just doesn’t want to budge.

  61. I didn’t read all reply’s but I wanted to mention that I used one of my Keurig K cup filters and put ground cinnamon in it and dropped it in the water jug and it works great!!

  62. Mine doesn’t taste like anything either ):I was so happy to try this, don’t know what I did wrong.I even let it sit overnight

  63. I do this all the time! Except i use any kind of fruit i can find. Ive found that strawberries and raspberries work really good! I work with kids and they really like it when i put kiwi and strawberries in their water! its an awesome alternative to drinking all that fake stuff and it gives the water alot of flavor for people who do not drink alot of water.

  64. Really Cecelia? I’m surprised, everyone who comments raves on the comments about how good it is. It won’t have a STRONG flavor like crystal light but it should have a nice faint hint of apple pie. Maybe if you doubled the apple slices and cinnamon stick. Make sure to slice the apples as thin as you can get them.

You might enjoy a stronger flavored water, this Mango Ginger water also boosts metabolism and has a VERY strong flavor:

    HAPPY COOKING!

  65. ok maybe I missed something but I made this and it absolutely did NOT have a cinnamon flavor at all and just a very faint hint of apple…I used fuji like you recommended and a whole (gourmet at that) cinnamon stick…put the ice in it…even after a couple hours in the fridge it still tastes like…water…LOL

  66. One more “recipe”: 1/4 c RAW 1-minute oats, 1/4 t. cinnamon powder, 2 c. COLD water; stir, drink. GREAT snack-time drink. You get the fiber, some carbs & it’s refreshing. Or add the cinnamon-apple water! 2-in-1! =D

  67. I used to go to a Japanese spa in San Fran & they had fruit-flavored waters set out for the patrons: sliced strawberries w/ mint leaves; orange & lemons, thinly sliced (you cld also add mint) were the 2 usuals. I’ve used just abt every conceivable fruit that doesn’t over-ripen like bananas. In El Salvador there’s a drink called salad (ensalada) w/ minced fruit in it. My version has almost-ripe mangoes, cashew fruit, apples (NOT a fan of Fuji), LETTUCE (yes, any kind), grapes (sliced in half) & lime wedges. All of it minced fine or even a quick pulse or two in the food processor, I’d think though I’ve not tried it. I also drink an infusion of 1 cinnamon stick & 4 linden tea bags in 2 gals of water, simmered until reduced by 1/4. Refrigerated & poured over a glassful of ice or half ice, infusion in the same amt & cold water to fill.

  68. I think the ones that it worked for used a cloth and made a tea that they added to the apples and then added the ice & water on top…

Another amazing option is to take cinnamon sticks, boil with water until it LOOKS like tea, remove the sticks and drink hot with a touch of agave or honey added just for flavor…

It is very warming and awesome for not only your metabolism but also your immune system and for allowing your body to more easily accept insulin!!!

  69. HI Cara,

Fugi apples will be sweeter, I am wondering if have you had similar stomach aches when you eat foods with cinnamon? It sounds like the cinnamon might not be setting well in your tummy.

Try this water instead, if you don’t get the aches then you know it was the cinnamon and not the water or apples.

    https://tonetiki.com/2012/07/27/day-spa-mango-ginger-water-0-calories/

You will go to the rest room more if you drink more, but if you drink most of your water in 3 large quantities it will help. Try drinking 32 oz of water with breakfast lunch and dinner, you will fill up faster and will stay hydrated while slimming down.

    HAPPY COOKING!

  70. I used granny smith thinking it would make it really sweet but they don’t add any sweetness what’s so ever! Also, I find myself having to go to the bathroom a lot more an having some stomach aches from it. Is that because it’s used as a type of cleanser? I will try the Fiji apples next for sweetness! I regret buying the big bag of granny smith :/

  71. Hi Gail,

I am happy to elaborate for you 🙂

If you are looking to lose weight you need to drink about a gallon of water a day, that is 16 8oz glasses of water.

When I say refill when it is 1/2 way down it is just so that some of the already flavored water helps infuse the new water you are adding. I am all about saving time and money and this will help.

If you add up your water intake in glasses of water it might be easier then you know you need 16. I also encourage everyone to drink two 8 oz glasses of water with breakfast, lunch and dinner. If you drink them before you will be fuller and won’t eat as much, therefore you will lose weight.

You could also keep track in the liter bottles, however you want.

Did I answer all your questions?

  72. hi my senior mind might be a bit slow..lol..we drink how much every day?.as i see you say refill half way.so am confused as to how much i am supposed to be drinking every day..i already eat quite healthy..loves green smoothies.and do drink my water..but..this flavored water sounds yummy..i guess i could pour this into 1 liter bottles to keep track and then cud take with whehn i go out..can you explain to me if i am reading this correctely?.i love your site..tfs..loves ya

  73. Jennifer Binney

im trying this in the morning already mixed it up. used ground cinnamon instead of a stick. put the cinnamon in first then a little water and stirred like CRAZY till all was dissolved. cant wait to try it. down 40lbs but stuck so hoping this will help. still wanna lose another 80!!!

  74. Working on a new drink today 🙂 I think you will like it. I like to drink two glasses of water before breakfast, lunch and dinner. I just chug them, I don’t always like it but it is an easy way to make sure I get enough water and it fills me up a little so I don’t eat as much.

    HAPPY COOKING!

  75. Found this on pinterest and I am going to try it out today. I’m not a huge fan of plain water, so I usually end up drinking way less than I should. I have 10 more pounds to get rid of before I am at my goal weight and I have been struggling to get them off. I am hoping that this and some of your other water recipes will help me drink enough water my body needs and aid in losing a couple of these stubborn pounds I have left. Thank you for sharing this recipe!

  76. OOOh I am going to try this. Is this something I can drink before, after, or during my gym workouts? For hydration? I buy cinnamon sticks regularly anyway, in the mexican’s store, buy it by the pound.

  77. I am trying to improve my eating and drinking habits which is a slow process but…I couldn’t do the water so I tried it with tea and I am in LOVE with this drink. Also, I didn’t have cinnamon sticks so I used about a tablespoon of cinnamon in a coffee filter and closed with a rubber band. All the flavor minus the clumps. Thank you so much for sharing this.

  78. Hi Sarah,

I bet you will drop over 5 lbs the first week you go completely off fake sugars and foods with preservatives and chemicals. Cereal (I’m sad to say) chips and crackers, cookies anything that will last on your shelf for a month (besides pasta, rice and canned) is BAD stuff. 100 calorie packs for instance are all preservatives, chemicals and chemical derived thickening agents.

I think as long as you are drinking water over soda and crystal light you should put in whatever fruit and herbs you like best. Get creative, Target has some pitchers that have a filter down the middle to hold fruit so you wont get it in your glass. It even has pictures of fruit in it, I think they have been reading my blog 😉

I always tell people, if you can master these three steps you will be well on your way to weight loss success:

    1. Drink a gallon of water a day
    2. Don’t eat or drink any fake sugars (NONE of them) or any processed foods (preservatives, chemicals…)
    3. Count your calories, here is a great equation: take your goal weight and add a zero to the end that is your calorie goal for the day. So if you want to weigh 135 you should have no more than 1350 calories per day.

Check out my facebook page, I pick a Weight Loss Superstar every week. You might just kill it next week and blow everyone away 🙂

    HAPPY COOKING!

  79. I’m completely addicted to Diet Dr Pepper and Crystal Light but I just made this water and am looking forward to trying it. I’m trying so hard to lose 30-40 pounds; I’m working out and eating low-cal but I think having all of those fake sweeteners in my body is holding me back! I can’t even lose 3 pounds in a month!

I’m allergic to cinnamon but I’m trying this anyway. I’m hoping since it’s infused into the water and I’m not eating pure cinnamon (a la cinnamon toast crunch cereal, which makes my mouth itch!) it won’t bother me too much. If it does I may try ginger instead of cinnamon. I’m also looking forward to trying the mango and watermelon varieties as I actually really prefer those 2 fruits to apples!

  80. Hi Krista!

So glad you liked the recipe, I always tell people if you start with the following 4 things the pounds will start melting away:
    1. Drink a gallon of water a day
    2. Stop eating processed foods and fake sugars, just eat all natural
    3. Move your body more
    4. Count calories, take your goal weight and add a zero that is how many calories you should have a day. Example: goal 135 lbs = 1350 Calories per day.

I have tons of recipes to help you lose weight check out the link below for my recipes:

Good luck, let me know if you have any questions you can also follow me on facebook: https://tonetiki.com/links-to-my-recipes-and-weight-loss-tips/

    HAPPY COOKING!

  81. Great site you have! You need a “Pin It” button so we can share your great tips on Pinterest! Afterall, that is where I found you. 🙂

  82. I found your day spa apple cinnamon water on pinterest and finally got around to making some. Well a variation of it. I used two large water bottles instead of pitcher and glasses. I also didn’t have cinnamon sticks so I used pineapple. It was pretty good, and even my kids loved it, especially my son who doesn’t like water. I’m definitely going to try more, cucumber and lemon sound really good, and I love watermelon so I’m going to do something with that. After my two kids I’ve had a hard time with weight loss so I started simply by eating and drinking healthier. My 5th year anniversary is next month and I have a wedding to go to at the same time. Just a couple lost pounds will make me feel better than I do now.

  83. I’ve been told that cinnamon sticks are reusable (indefinitely, but I’d say until the flavor decreases)! All you have to do is rinse them, then dry them!

  84. I love this water!! I buy the cinnamone sticks in the ethnic food (Spanish/Hispanic food) aisle. They come pkgd in a cellophane bag and are less expensive than the whole ones in the spice aisle. I sotre them in a mason jar for freshness.

  85. A way to make it taste even better is to had just a little bit of vanilla to it

  86. I tried this and it’s wonderful!!! I added a teaspoon of peppermint to the water and it tastes great! Thank you for this recipe, it’s all I drink! 🙂

  87. Could you use ground cinnamon in the water instead of the sticks? or could you just use Apples?

  88. I love it! Apple cider taste great with it. Would recommend only doing little apper cider at a time if your not sure about the taste.

  89. Well I just made some & adding 1 cup of apple cider. I’m letting it sit awhile. Hopefully it will have a great taste. I’m dieting and just getting sick of water. Will let you know how it turns out.

  90. Has anyone tried adding apple cider with this. I know apple cider is a great detox and was thinking about adding some just wasn’t sure about it.

  91. Hi Misty!

I am allergic to Raspberries so I can’t do any recipe testing for you. I have a friend who loves a frozen berry medley in her sparkling water. I think you can get a bag of Raspberries, Blackberries and Blueberries mixed together in the frozen food section. Or try my Strawberry Lime Spritzer and add Raspberries instead of Strawberries.

    https://tonetiki.com/2012/07/04/strawberry-lime-spritzer-0-calories/

Good luck! Let me know what you come up with.

    HAPPY COOKING!

  92. I used Rasberries and it didn’t work for me any ideas on how to make it work. I really like rasberries the best.

  93. I saw this on pinterest and thought that it sounded soooooooo yummy! I have it made and I’m waiting for it to get done :). I’m hoping that I’m able to take this to dance and twirling instead of powerade. I’m also thinking of making some peach and vanilla water. I hope I can try some of the other waters too.

  94. You should NOT be having this reaction! You may be having an allergic reaction to cinnamon and should stop drinking it immediately! You may want to contact your doctor or at least a nurse hotline (if your insurance has one) they may shed some light on it.

Start drinking regular water and a lot of it to get the cinnamon out of your system just in case.

If you want to try another metabolism boosting drink grapefruit is a great metabolism booster, cut up and drop in water squeezing a couple for some added flavor.

  95. I made this Sunday and sipped it all day, Monday did the same. and it really was delicious. But now it’s tuesday and I have the worst headache in the world. I feel almost hungover? and all I’ve been drinking is this water. I also have what appears to be acne which is weird because I never break out. As well as little red bumps on the top of my thigh…is this an allergic reaction? My mother and grandmother (regular detoxers) said my body is just detoxing, but some of my other frineds say I shouldn’t be having this reaction because “it was just water” I’d love to hear your imput.

  96. Lillian (My Recipe Journey)

Wow! You lost 150 lbs. That’s amazing! Thank you for showing me your video! I’ll have to stay tuned for more of your blog! =)

  97. Try this link, you will have to find it on the page though.

    https://tonetiki.com/favorite-kitchen-items/

You can always grab a water or an unsweetened Ice Tea at 7-11. Very happy you are bringing your water along with you!! GOOD JOB!

I am starting a testimonial page, keep me updated on your weight loss journey I would love to put you up on there and take a “before” pic, if nothing else just for YOU so in a month you can look at it and see the changes.

    HAPPY COOKING!

  98. Sharing your success on a new page, check it out probably will be posted tomorrow (Tues) the page is called Weight Loss Testimonials and will be on the top bar of the site 🙂

    HAPPY COOKING!

  99. Audrey, I’m still trying to find that link you mentioned to Sodastream – I’m familiar with those, we had them at home when I was growing up, and I love sparkling water. I just bought myself a case of Arrowhead fizzy water – you’re right – sometimes it’s just the fizz that is missing. Sometimes, though, it’s just the habit! I know that whenever I am running around and start to feel dehydrated, I stop into a 7-11 and get a big Diet Code…..

Now I’ve learned to never leave home without my water bottle full and an apple in my purse. Just have to change habits, I guess!

  100. I think you should be able to put this in your water bottle, just slice the apple into sticks. I also think you can give up sodas all together, have you tried pellegrino or club soda? I found that when I was trying to give up soda myself it was the bubbles I wanted and the fizzy water helped a lot!

    HAPPY COOKING!

  101. Hurray! I’m so glad you like it! I am working on another flavored water with mint, which helps with morning sickness… I sure hope you don’t have that!

Let me know if you have any requests or questions.

    HAPPY COOKING!

  102. This sounds really interesting. I’ve never been interested in the cucumber water or the lemon water, but I might could do apple-cinnamon water.

I’m on WW and I’ve lost 36 pounds. I’m upping my exercise, and being the summer months, I’m trying to drink more water too. I find that if I drink 2 glasses of water for every can of soda, I don’t crave the soda as much. 😉

Hmm, now you’ve got me thinking. I wonder if I can pull this off in a water bottle for my bike. *pensive face*

Well, I’m off to read your story, and then browse your blog. Thanks for posting this. 😀

  103. I’m so glad I found your website (via Pinterest)! Being preggo it’s even more important to drink water and before being pregnant I was really good about drinking my 64 oz (+) of water a day but now the taste of water is very blah to me. I tried a couple of the store-bought mixes and they just weren’t doing it either. I made the apple-cinnamon and absolutely love it. Couldn’t wait for my second glass! I’m going to try your other flavor boosters to mix it up so I don’t get tired of this one! Thanks so much for this wonderful healthy flavored water!

  104. Just curious — How much of this do you drink in 1 day? After drinking 2 glasses, I don’t think there is nothing left in my body, been in the bathroom twice already. Maybe my body needs to get adjusted to it. The first glass had no flavor, second glass, I could taste the apples in there. It is a good Detox!

  105. Thank you so much Martha! I understand your frustration due to your medical issues, I have been having multiple surgeries on my hand/wrist and looking at an upcoming shoulder surgery. I lost all the weight during all my medical issues, the weight loss was what got me through.

I looked at it like, I might not be able to brush my hair, or get dressed by myself but I can control what I put in my body and control if I lose weight or not. I am on a ton of meds too, it is really frustrating, I am so sorry you are going through this Martha! 🙁

As for the diet soda cravings, have you tried fizzy water? Like club soda? Pelligrinno is my favorite bottled sparkling water and I find that the bubbles are all I was ever craving. Try it out for yourself and if you fall in love with bubbly water like I am check out a Sodastream, it makes your own bubbly water at home. There is a link to it on this post.

If you have any requests or questions please let me know.

    Happy Cooking!

  106. I found that if you leave 2 cinnamon sticks in the pitcher overnight that it will be way stronger!

  107. I came across this idea on Pinterest, and now I’m so happy that I found your blog!

I gained alot of weight in the past 2 years due to inactivity & depression & medications I’m taking because of a whole bunch of medical issues. I am now trying to get my life back and get as active as I can – even though the medical issues continue to dog me. I’m determined to lose weight by eating naturally. I have been having success – 25 lb so far. It is slow going, though, because of my age (slower metabolism), the meds I am still taking, and not being able to be quite as active as I used to be.

Anyway, the one bad habit that I just haven’t been able to kick is Diet drinks… I’ve cut back, but not cut out. I want to start working on that, so I figured I’d try this flavored water. I really didn’t think I’d like it – but I was pleasantly surprised. It’s good and it’s refreshing. I drink it very well iced, and I love it. Can’t wait to try some of the other flavored waters!

I also can’t wait to go back through your blog and catch up on all the ideas I’ve missed… Thanks so much for writing it!!

  108. How does an apple give it flavor? Doesn’t seem like it does much. Just curious. I could do it w/ an apple, but I never use cinnamon stix.

  109. It’s funny you ask, there has been some discussion back and forth about ground cinnamon. Some people say it’s great and some say it doesn’t dissolve. Try it in just one glass rather than a whole pitcher and let me know what you think. Just use a pinch. Both ground cinnamon and cinnamon stick have the same nutritional value.

    Happy Cooking!

  110. I have water & apple in freezer now, couldn’t find cinnamon sticks at Wal-Mart, can I use ground cinnamon? Or I’ll try Publix, if not…..

  111. I made it, and even let it sit over night, but it doesn’t taste like anything. Is that normal??

  112. For me it was 5 lbs a week, I also ate 100% all natural food with no preservatives and no chemicals. I would say 2-5 lbs depending on how you feed your body. All of my recipes are 100% all natural and will help you get to your goal faster.

Try it out yourself and let me know how much weight you lose. A woman let me know this morning that she killed it at her weekly Weight Watcher’s meeting 🙂

The goal here is to give up the diet sodas, the fake sugar drinks (propel, crystal light etc.) and have this sweet drink instead. Check out some of my recipes, for instance my Apple Pie Oatmeal has 4 ingredients that will boost your metabolism. There is also a Metabolism Boosting Food list on this link:

    https://tonetiki.com/2012/06/17/metabolism-boosting-apple-pie-oatmeal-309-calories/

    Happy Cooking!

  113. Just like all others, I’m going to try this as well. I love apples so I’m sure I’ll love this drink. I know everyone is different but what is the average weight loss by drinking this for a week?

  114. Walked in kitchen….I see apples, cinnamon, cold water……all adds up to one yuMMy drink……..plus a added bonus for weight-loss. Thank you for sharing your ideas!!!

  115. No way Angie, you need to eat too! I would never do one of those fad diet plans, this is all about feeding your body what it needs and using real ingredients that will help boost metabolism naturally.

This is detox as in drinking a gallon of water a day and skipping the diet sodas and chemical based drinks will rid your body of toxins.

I have already had someone tell me she killed it at her weekly Weight Watcher’s meeting after enjoying this for a week.

I have over a 100 recipes, all are under 500 calories and all 100% all natural. I lost 150lbs in 12 months eating this way! Check out my story and let me know if you like the Cinnamon Apple Water 🙂

    https://tonetiki.wordpress.com/2012/04/27/from-fat-to-skinny-in-one-year/

    Happy Cooking!

  116. Yes, it would. Apples and Cinnamon BOTH boost metabolism. Add a whole apple instead of half. I have never tried the two together, but apple and grapefruit might be a good combo, they both boost metabolism. let me know if you try it and how it comes out.

Don’t feel guilty! Find something that you will enjoy so you stay away from diet sodas and those nasty powders that people add to water, they are full of chemicals YUCK! Even if you add 5 calories per glass of water, you burn that off just getting up to pour yourself a glass!

Have you tried my Mango Basil or Watermelon Rosemary waters? They are sweet and delicious in a very grown up fancy kind of way, I will put the links below if you want to check them out.

  117. Is this a detox as in u don’t eat anything as well as replacing this drink with everything??

  118. This was so good!!!! Even my young boys wanted to have some! I finally went through my first pitcher! Now I’m planning to have Apple Cinnamon water often this summer! Awesome!!!!

  119. I am allergic to cinnamon… would adding just apples to the water still be beneficial? I hate plain water but feel guilty when I add things to it…

  120. Another good flavour combination is pineappple and mango. I just throw about 2 cups of chopped frozen fruit in a gallon pitcher and add water. Yummy!

  121. Awesome! Can’t wait to try it. Can you reuse the cinnamon stick? How many days can you refill the water before needing to start over with new apple and cinn.?

  122. Some people have commented that it works with the ground, some have said it doesn’t. Try it out and let me know how it works. Ground and sticks both have the same nutritional value.

    Happy Cooking!

  123. I know you said that the pitcher can be refilled 3 to 4 times before the apples should be replaced, but how long do the apples last? A few days?

  124. I dint know how i was going to feel about this recipe at first. i’ll admit, i was very nervous. so i chopped up an apple, put a couple slices in my cup, and added a really tiny amount of powdered cinnamon ( i dont have any sticks). iput some ice and water then mixed it up, and it tastes great! im so excited to have this recipe!!

  125. Cannot wait to try this as I do drink tons of water. Thanks so much for all the wonderful ideas!

  126. Just tried it today. I love that the flavor isn’t overbearing like the water “enhancers” at the store. Sometimes I just want a LITTLE flavor that won’t feel so heavy. Thanks for the post, this is absolutely fantastic!!

  127. In response to Krissy,

Water in general will help you lose weight, before you eat anything drink two big glasses of water so you won’t need to eat so much.

I am working on another Metabolism Boosting drink, in the mean time try grapefruit in your water, it also boosts metabolism.

Hope that helps, I will have more flavored waters coming out soon. I just posted one today that recharges you after a workout:

  128. Sounds delicious! I have a new water coming out tomorrow that has rosemary in it too 🙂

Thanks for stopping by!! Check out my post tomorrow I think you will like it.

    Happy Cooking!

  129. I drink lots of water everyday too.you should try rosemary n lemon or mint, cucumber n orange.so good!!!

  130. We don’t have the option of cinnamon sticks on our island (at least none that I have found) so I am going to try blondie’s idea about the cinnamon teabag

  131. Hi Victoria,

I’m working on a new zero calorie Day Spa inspired water now 🙂 So glad you like it!! My Mango and Basil water is super good too here is the link:

    https://tonetiki.wordpress.com/2012/04/12/day-spa-mango-and-basil-water-0-calories/

The negative calorie diet, I don’t know about that. I’m assuming it’s less calories in that out? How is it working for you? How long have you been on it?

I also wrote a post about creating your own diet, taking what works for you from different diet plans to make your own individual plan, here is that post:

    https://tonetiki.wordpress.com/2012/03/12/create-a-diet-that-will-work-for-you-heres-how/

Check out my recipes too, all are under 500 calories and 100% all natural 🙂

    Happy Cooking!

  132. I just made this. LOVE IT! I’m on the negative calorie diet where all you can drink is water water water. So this is a great addition. LOVE.

  133. I just made this, I did use regular ground cinnamon, because that is what I had. I will finish this pitcher then by cinnamon stick. I have been adding cucumber lemon and mint leaves for a change also. Gotta keep drinking the water thanks for the blog im trying to lose weight and after menopause nothing is working

  134. You can, but it won’t be as sweet. All apples boost your metabolism so choose your favorite. I like Fugi apples, they are sweet and oh so delicious.

    Happy Cooking!

  135. Can I use green apples, or should they be red? Does the color of te apple make a difference?

  136. All these ideas sound great! Can’t wait to get started!
Just a health tidbit – one should drink a quart of water per 50 lbs of weight per day. So if you’re 100lbs, drink 2 quarts (half-gallon). If you weigh more, add another quart. I weigh 145lbs, so I should drink 3 quarts a day at the very least. Just consuming the amount of water required for good hydration for your weight will help you lose weight, too. 🙂

  137. This is not a “Detox Plan” this is a drink that will naturally boost your metabolism and flush your system. You should still be eating healthy balanced meals. A good equation for weight loss (which I learned from my Fav cookbook Pretty Delicious- see “Cookbooks I Recommend” at the top) is take your goal weight and add a zero to the end of it, that is how many calories you should have per day. Example, if you want to weigh 130 lbs you should eat 1300 calories per day.

Check out my story at the below link, it explains how I lost 150 lbs in 12 months and has some links to my favorite skinny recipes.

    Happy Cooking!
    https://tonetiki.wordpress.com/2012/04/27/from-fat-to-skinny-in-one-year/

  138. I’ve done lemon and I’ve done cucumber, but I never thought about mixing them! And lavender is a wonderful idea! I just got a little drop-in herb infuser from Pampered Chef, I can’t wait to try this out!!

  139. I love the ideas. I have done lemon mint served it at a resturant huge hit. Also at Christmas i put lime, orange, and cranberries in water. Very festive and a nice change.

  140. Well…..unless you put the ground cinnamon in a some cloth….make a cinnamon ‘tea bag’…??

  141. Cinnamon will not dissolve….it is a bark! I wouldn’t use ground unless you don’t mind having lots of grainy bits….stick cinnamon would be much better!

Sounds nice. I’d definitely leave it a few hours or overnight before drinking it.

  142. It can, drink a gallon a day, skip all diet sodas and fake sugar drinks.

Try out some of my other metabolism boosting meals and you will well on your way to dropping 3 lbs a week. I lost up to 5 a week!

What is your goal weight? How many calories do you usually have a day?

Here is another recipe to check out, makes a great lunch and boosts your metabolism:

    Happy Cooking!

  143. I haven’t tried it but it might work. My only concern is that it will clump and not evenly distribute. Maybe dissolve the powdered cinnamon in a cup of warm water and then add to the pitcher of water.
Let me know how it comes out 🙂

    Happy Cooking!

  144. I am going to make this when I get off work today! Sounds really good. 🙂 I will let you know what I think. 🙁 Thanks for the idea!

  145. I used a 2 liter but you could easily do a gallon and double up the apple and cinnamon.

    Thanks for stopping by!

    Happy Cooking 🙂

  146. Place in fridge for a minimum of 10 minutes before drinking but overnight is even better, keep refilling when it gets 1/2 way down.

    Happy Cooking!

  147. Trying this!!! Would u recommend a 2 liter pitcher or a gallon… R something else lol.

  148. It is so delicious and easy! Hope you enjoy it as much as I do! I have two other flavored waters you should check out, Lemon Cucumber and Lavender Mint.
    Happy Cooking!

Reblogged this on Skinny Fat to Fit and commented:
I am so excited to try this recipe and test others out! It’s great to find alternative flavored waters (that aren’t diet drinks chalked full of aspartame–cancer causing). What a great idea from ‘a skinny stay at home Mom’. ( I may alter this by using some fizzy water)
